Interesting read here. Has Walmart become more liberal, or has the Republican Party become so out of step with American values that even Walmart says enough?
I suspect it's a little of both, but more the latter. Walmart's opposition was a major reason Arkansas' governor changed his mind and decided not to sign the state's religious freedom bill, which was basically identical to the Indiana law.
Walmart can read the tea leaves: A. Gay dollars spend just like anyone else's. B. Most Americans no longer feel that it's acceptable that gay people are discriminated against.
The GOP, by being held captive by the religious right, is very late to the party on this issue, but the Indiana disaster has been an eye-opener for Republican politicians on how far out of touch they are with 2015 America.
