Trump: Hillary "got schlonged"

Well, well. Leave it to Donald Trump to inject some humor and an unlikely word into the political discourse: "schlong." Being gay men, most all of us know the noun definition of the word. Trump proposes that used as a verb it means "beaten badly."

However, as he was discussing Clinton's loss to Obama in 2008, this does create the impression of a white woman being "schlonged" by a black man. (Insert sexist and racist gasps/jokes here.)

Twitter was abuzz, of course. Best I heard: "Two schlongs don't make a right."

Well, if lightning strikes and Trump gets elected president, at least he will be a source of continual amusement!

  • If any republican is elected to the White House, the average citizen in this country is in big trouble.

  • I recommend going and seeing the movie "The Big Short" and tell me what the GOP did to help the little guy? Why is it that poor people, minorities and gay people continue to think that the GOP is going to look out for their best interests? You may not like the Dems but they are not telling you one thing while they steal your wallets. Just like after the Great Depression the rich banker class blamed immigrants and poor people. Sounds sort of familiar doesn't it? Trump will say anything just like he lied to banks to get loans he needed and how he bribed public officials so he could get tax breaks and that is the sort of guy people want running the country? The answer to our problem may be that our house is burning but we sure as hell don't want to hire the arsonist to put it out.

  • I agree with Barney's statement about not being able to tell how people will *really* vote. Clearly a large chunk of Republicans say they like Trump's outspokenness and brash quality. But when it comes down to it, will they *really* vote for him? Although the office of president has changed a lot in the last 20-30 years, I still think the vast majority of people view it as a serious position for a serious man/woman. Trump, too often, just doesn't come off as a serious person. The "schlonged" comment, though no big deal on its own, just plays into his pattern of saying outrageous things. If he somehow won the GOP nomination, he'd likely lose the general election badly.

  • The quirky part of this cycle is that 20% of Republicans say they would vote for Bernie Sanders if he gets the nomination. Why? He is also seen as an anti-establishment candidate. And many of Trumps supporters also see wealth inequality as hurting them personally.

If Trump should by some miracle get the GOP nomination ( I think Rubio will end up with it ) and get elected Panama, Costa Rico and Portugal are looking really, really good.

  • The reason trump leads in polls is because people are tired of politicians ruining the country. When the "common" person sees trump they see a man who is not a politician. When they hear him speak (regardless of if they agree or not) they hear a man who is not afraid to speak his mind. A politician will lie and skirt what he believes to amass votes. To be honest trump in office might be a wake up call this country needs. Just got to survive his term

  • One can never tell how people are going to really vote when in the privacy of the voting booth. Polls are very inaccurate and people will tell pollsters just about anything. As for Rubio he is not the one to worry about as he is not very well supported here in Florida and will not carry the state. Kasich is also not well liked in Ohio and will be lucky to carry Ohio. Who scares me is Cruz as he is a truly dangerous man. Read about him and you get a picture of a man who will do just about anything to get what he wants. This election like all elections will come down to turn out. If there is a high turn out especially form the 18-26 year age group then the GOP may end up getting SCHLONGED!

  • If I had to guess, he probably won't. But I wouldn't rule it out entirely. His lead seems impervious to any gaffes. Read a piece this week that said that Hillary should be concentrating on trying to damage Rubio as much as possible at this point. He's clearly the GOP's most dangerous candidate, and I guarantee you a Rubio-Kasich ticket would scare the hell out of the Democratic side. (To win a presidential election, the GOP candidate MUST carry Florida and Ohio, which is where those two are from.)

BTW, he doesn't have many donors because he is self-financing his campaign. So that isn't a factor for him.

The key to his chance of winning the nomination, I think, will be having at least 3 serious candidates deep into the race, so he can win primaries with less than 50 percent of the vote. If it gets into a one-on-one, I don't like his chances.

  • Let me ask you because you know a lot more about politics than I do. At this point is Trump really going to get the nomination? With all the sexist comments rating women based on looks and putting women down, and all the dumb things he's said on Twitter. He's got the biggest lead but not many donors.
