American freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy. Interesting story. He says he didn't enjoy his 2014 silver medal because he felt he failed by not coming out afterward.
Nice post--good for him for coming out. Next year this time, he'll be wondering what took him so long.
Still, it was a sad read to see how he struggled with his sexuality and the fear he had about coming out. Drives home the point that it's important to be out--it's a drag to know that there are still many young people struggling.
The posts of support from his peers are the best--that's heartwarming.
Mr. Kenworthy: First congratulations on your silver medal...what a wonderful achievement!
However, you did not make that grade without honor..and you are still a human and worthy..regardless of your orientation.
You did not belittle your fellow men..straight or gay. God bless you, and hang in there..and be happy!
