10 percent of college grads think Judge Judy is on Supreme Court

This rather bizarre finding doesn't mean our college grads are stupid so much as just extremely uninformed. Sadly, this is increasingly true of a larger and larger number of Americans. Today's technology revolution has made information more readily available than ever; conversely, it has also made it easier than ever to *avoid* the news.

  • Something to point out in our school system. Very few schools teach current events. Instead their lessons revolve more around skimming over historical events

  • Blame Reagan for taking civics out of the educational system. Back in the day, you had a constitution test in 6th grade. One had to pass it again in order to receive your grade and high school diploma. And I went to Catholic school. Last spring, I was listening to progressive radio. The host asked the audience what were the 3 branches of government. Not one caller could name them. He then had to explain legislative was congress, executive was the president, judicial, the courts.
