Is Gary Johnson the dumbest presidential candidate of all time?

Look I know the Libertarian Party isn't going to win a presidential election, but geez, you'd think they would at least come up with a credible candidate. Gary Johnson, the former New Mexico governor, is making Trump look like a well-prepared whiz kid. He just keeps committing gaffe after gaffe. First came his infamous "What is Aleppo?" blank look reply to a question about Syria. Then today, in an interview with Chris Matthews, he couldn't name *one* world leader whom he respects. And it wasn't that he doesn't respect any. He couldn't think of the names of any. He even admitted having an "Aleppo moment."

And then after the NY-NJ bombings, he said "Thank God no one was injured." 29 people were.

Folks, if any of you were thinking of voting for this clown, think again. He's totally unqualified to be president.

  • Trump's disaster could be a major boon for the Libertarian Party, but based on Johnson's recent interview showings, at this point they should hope he *doesn't* qualify for the third debate. If he did something like this in front of a huge national audience, it might set the Libertarian Party back a decade!

  • Yes, txholdup, here in Texas, we have the "luxury" of being able to vote for a third party candidate if we want to because we know it won't affect the outcome of the election. Texas would vote for a Republican if he were a confessed killer carrying around an AR-15 (wait -- haven't we had some candidates like that?). I have voted third party myself at times. But if I were going to this time, I'd go with Stein. Can't stomach Johnson. He's a disastrously bad candidate for a Libertarian Party that is trying to get itself taken seriously. (How can you take an airhead pothead seriously?) And I can't abide the Libertarians' status quo position on guns. ENOUGH! Gun violence is an epidemic in this country and I no longer consider doing nothing an option. Not anymore. Not after Sandy Hook. And not after Orlando.

  • I'm not going to defend Gary Johnson, he's a pothead. He has said he hasn't been high since getting the nomination, his performance says otherwise.

But either he or Jill Stein will be getting my vote, Johnson most likely. Barack Obama was the first Democrat I voted for in decades, once. For me it isn't about winning, it is about the desperate need this country has for a 3rd or a 4th voice. I belonged to the Human Rights Party in Michigan. We ran and won an election for the first openly gay person in the US. We passed preferential voting. We pushed for rent control. We originated and passed a $5 pot law. 3rd parties bring change and 1/2 of the time our allies in passing legislation were the Republicans.

Some of my good friends think I am crazy. There is the Supreme Court etc. etc. But I live in Texas, Hillary won't be carrying Texas unless Johnson takes away enough votes from Trump. I'm not voting Libertarian because I agree with all their positions, I don't agree with some very serious issues like gun control and the role of the federal government. I am voting for a 3rd party because unless and until the Democrats and Republicans feel threatened they aren't going to go back to their roots of representing ordinary Americans instead of corporate interests. Both of those parties need serious competition.

  • Yeah, Jacker, a number of Republican papers have endorsed him. They look like dopes now for not doing their homework and just picking somebody besides Trump. Dumb and Dumber.

  • I have voted Libertarian a number of times in the past, though I definitely won't be this year. It's a shame that in a year the Libertarians are positioned to have their best ever showing in a presidential race, their nominee turns out to be a total Bozo. :(

I think Johnson should withdraw and let Weld head the ticket.

  • Shoot, Trump tooting a couple lines before the debate; Johnson blowing a fat joint before his Matthews' interview--I think the wrong people are getting drug tested. :)
