Famed double amputee runner charged in slaying of girlfriend

This story is just so shocking, disappointing, sad, that I'm not sure what to say about it. Pistorius is a hero to millions of people. It would be like Oprah being charged with murder or something along those lines.

  • OJ is probably the closest thing to a similar case, but I'd say that Pistorius is maybe more disappointing because he is unique, and a symbol of hope to the handicapped community. OJ was well-regarded too, but there are a lot of superstar black athletes. There is only one Oscar Pistorius.

  • Considering they nicknamed him the Blade Runner, he probably figured his wife was a replicant..

And I suppose Nike's Pistorius ad seems a bit ironic now..

  • CB, Hero's are human and subject to the same flaws the rest of us mere mortals are. The list is endless. I seem to recall a person named OJ. Although he was acquitted for murder, he sits in jail for another crime.

  • Hey guy. Just wondering, but is it considered acceptable for South African media to flat out say somebody murdered someone before they've been proved guilty? I know different countries have different standards, but that would be a big no-go in the American media.

  • I hope they find that it was some sort of mixup and he thought she was an intruder or something like that.
