We recently had a discussion about tattoos. Well, I broke down and joined the inked crowd this week. Artist is Clint Cummings, and he does fantastic work. He was a contestant on the Spike TV show Inkmaster last year.
Photo attached. I'll apologize in advance, but one thing I've quickly found is that it's not easy to get this in a good, sharp image. So it's kinda fuzzy.
As for the choice, I wanted to get a dog, but didn't want to do my breed, Great Pyrenees, for a first tatt. If I get a second, maybe ...
So I went with a pit bull as kind of a masculine image. Had thought about doing a snarling one or a demonized one, but the artist thought this would still get the job done without being over the top.
My advice on getting a tatt is No. 1, 2, 3, 4 .... FIND A GOOD ARTIST. You're going to pay for the privilege, but it's well worth it. You're not going to get quality work on the cheap. Everybody and his mother out there these days thinks they can tattoo, and there are lots of bad ones as a result. Also, never get drunk and get one :)
As far as what you might want, most artists have galleries posted online. Look and see what you like. There are various distinctive styles and genres.
I want to get one but I dont know what I want. I've been asking myself this now for about 20 years, but I would like to get one or more.
