Since this site has a lot of older guys like myself who aren't necessarily super tech savvy:
I was taking a webinar for work on verifying information from the Internet, and the same information came up on the Ricki Lake Show on Thursday.
Anyway, I wasn't aware of this, but it is a very good thing to know if you want to protect your identity on the Net.
By using Google search and another program called TinEye, it is possible to track back a photo to reveal all other places it exists by the same name on the Net.
This is very important to know in case you use the same photo on multiple sites across the Internet. For example, if you use the same mug shot on a site like this, where you may prefer to remain anonymous, and on your Facebook or other social media profile, a person who sees the mug on a gay dating site could track it to your Facebook or Twitter site and in the process find out your name and other profile information.
So be careful out there, guys. Don't use pix on gay dating or porn sites that you use on social media sites.
A reminder that when it comes to the Net, there is no such thing as privacy.
Maybe with your name you can still generate some interest without pix, but if I went that route, I'd NEVER get any interest. Hell, I don't get much as it is :)
I think the main lesson is just to let dating/porn sites have their own pictures and not mix them with the ones you use elsewhere.
I have a friend (extremely good looking) he had pictures posted and someone hacked his account and started posting his picture as theirs.
