Obscure rule bars gay military couples from veterans benefits

OK, normally you'd say this would be no big deal. The Supreme Court ruling on DOMA makes it clear that this provision of the VA code is unconstitutional. So Congress should be able to make a quick fix on it, right?

Ah, if only things worked the way they are supposed to in D.C. But we all know there is no way in hell that the House would act to overturn this.

So that means this is probably going to have to go back through the courts, delaying these folks their rightful benefits for lord knows how many years.

On stuff like this, it's very important that gay Republicans write their GOP congressmen, if they have them. They aren't going to listen to Democrats. They probably won't listen to you, either, but at least you might get a nice form response back.
