Billion Dollar Challenge over before first round of NCAA Tournament

That didn't take long. All of the brackets entered in the Billion Dollar Challenge -- that's right $1 Billion to the winner -- are already losers.

Memphis' victory over George Washington a little over midway through the second day of the first round of the tournament took out the final three brackets remaining.

Of course, the odds of anyone actually picking all 63 games in the NCAA Basketball Tournament were beyond astronomical to begin with, which is why Warren Buffett & Co. were willing to risk it.

Let's put it this way: Your odds of winning a $300 million lottery are MUCH, MUCH better than of picking all the games in the tourney.

But still, the idea that $1 billion was at stake sure made for millions of nice pipe dreams :)

  • That made it a really good bet for Quicken. They got tons of free publicity, along with data to mine from millions of people.

  • @ txholdup, :) good luck on that one!

SDSU Aztecs, the local college team, and UCLA, the other team I'm following, are still in the hunt, so I've got a reason to keep interested. That said, I was blown out of the water this first round picking one too many losers. Next year!

  • The odds according to an interview with Buffet and the CEO of Quicken Loans were 1 in 6 quintillion. Better odds for getting pregnant so I will keep on trying.
