This is actually a bigger deal than it sounds like. Approximately 20 percent of U.S. workers are employed by companies that do business with the federal government, so that's a big chunk of folks, even in Red State America.
Obama had held off on doing this executive order, preferring that Congress pass ENDA. But that is never going to get through the House as currently constituted, so this is as good as we can do right now.
Yet another reason why gay people should be very happy with Obama as president.

I'm happy wih Obama as President. This kind of action was UNHEARD of under former presidents, but the society has changed on gay issues, so it is time, but you can bet if the pres. was a Republican, this would NEVER happen. Did you seee coverage of that GOP asshole who recently said he thought stoning gay people was an OK way to punish us?
