Ian Thorpe was a big star in swimming in the pre-Phelps days. Obviously he didn't get the kind of coverage over here that he did in Australia, so it frankly never even occurred to me that he might be gay. Although I do recall that he supposedly had enormous feet :)
It's kind of after the fact (of being a star athlete), but hey, good for him anyway.

haha. i knew he was gay the first time I saw him. But he was cute and probably hung as well (to judge from the speedo). And a good athlete as well, which is all that really counts.
