Donald Trump: President of One America -- White, Straight America
If there were any doubts about where President Trump stands, they've been all but erased in the wake of Charlottesville. Trump has retreated to his white (somewhat racist) base, and all people of color are the enemy. Look, the GOP has been playing the white race card for 40 years or so now, so that's nothing new. But Trump has taken it to an entirely new level, which is basically not even paying lip service to equality in America. Now, Trump has been under siege as president, and when you're under siege, you retreat to your base. Trump won the 2016 election with this strategy, and it may even work for a while for Republicans. But it's a high-risk move. Moderate Republicans don't like being confronted with the idea that they're racist, even if they are. These folks went ahead and voted for Trump en masse in 2016, and Trump is banking on them doing it again (what other choice do they have?). But at what point do they say ENOUGH! Quite a few already are (this week's defecting CEOs from Trump advisory panels). The other risk is long term. White people are no longer a majority of the U.S. population, and who knows how long the white voting majority will last. Trump's all-in white strategy is going to blow up on the GOP eventually. Frankly, I'm very disappointed in Trump as president. After he was elected he said all the right things -- I'm going to be the president for ALL Americans. However, once in office, he has made ZERO attempt to actually do so. Instead, he's emerging as the most divisive U.S. president in history, and that can't be a good thing, no matter how you slice it.
BTW, I saw a recent Warren town hall meeting on CSPAN. She is a really authentic, powerful candidate. The exact opposite of Hillary, not so much in terms of policy but in terms of likeability. Those on the right who dismiss her as a liberal loony crackpot greatly underestimate her appeal. She's a middle-class schoolteacher who rose up through the ranks quickly based on talent, authenticity and message, and a real voice for the average Joe. Those are qualities that America is really desperate for these days. Some thought that was true of Trump. HAH :) Yeah, like a billionaire from a privileged background knows all about the middle class' problems.
Trump acknowledged what they did and denounced them he just also pointed out antifa was bad. The only thing he said wrong was that there were good people on both sides. I agree that is incorrect but he isn't against people of color and this type of talk is really just plain ignorant and completely immoral
