spirits, haunts, poltergeists, what have you. do you believe that there are other entities around us? do you believe that people come back as ghosts after death? do you have a personal experience that convinced you?
Hm.. Nope. I don't see a rational/scientific explanation for that, (except probably hallucinations and schizophrenia as one possible theory), and I haven't really experienced them (or spirituality for that matter), so I'm a paranormal-atheist.
Still, they do make for some fun campfire stories and horror movies.
Certainly do!!! Lived in a house that had spirits there... They were joksters and was happy to a point!!!! My roommate did not beleive me until I left for a weekend and he experienced what I had.. I use to hear the second bedroom door slam shut and thought to myself damn there is a draft in this house went upstairs to c where it was coming from and the door would b totally opened... It is fun living with someone from the past!!!!! lol
We have our own playful/mischievous spirit. He resets my alarm clock but always to go off early rather than late. Last year he reset two clocks for daylight savings time. We sometimes hear footsteps on our second floor when no one is there. One evening I was in my studio going through some paperwork. Someone directly behind me said, "Hey!" I turned around expecting to see my partner there. But no one was there. My partner was downstairs at the other end of the house. We don't know who the spirit is. We don't live in an old home- it was built in the mid 1970s.
Personally I have not had experiences like you mention, but I have heard family stories about when relatives have passed away they have acknowledged seeing others from "the other side" and they speak to them. In some instances they have risen up in bed to talk to these "ghosts" (for lack of a better term). These have been relatives who were extremely sick and would not be thought to be able to lift themselves like that.
Oh, definately. I take care of my mentally challenged brother and a couple of weeks after our mother died he was in the back of the house and having a complete conversation (which he had never done before) with himself. He was asking questions like how's dad, is the house you are in now bigger than our house, stuff like that. I was on the phone so I'm listening to his conversation and the phone conversation at the same time. I told the person I was talking to that my bro needed me and hung up. When I got to the back of the house, he was sitting in his chair in his room with one of the cats on his lap (the one our mother loved the best) and staring straight ahead nodding his head and saying "I will, I will, I promise". So I let it go on until he was done and I asked him who he was talking to and he said "mom, she came to see Karen (the cat) and to let me know she was alright and I was to be as good as I could be for you because you had a lot to do and I wasn't to give you any trouble". I freaked out. He says he talks to her all the time and she talks back. I'm redecorating our childhood home and he will tell me "mom likes that" or "mom doesn't like that". So do I believe? Yes. My bro has an innocent mind but he's not dumb that's for sure. And, it would seem, she keeps him at peace most of the time. If I have any problems with him, he will come up to me later, after the incident, and hug me and say "I was told to tell you I'm sorry". There is something in my house keeping things safe and him calm. Even his daytime caregiver says that he sometimes freaks her out because he has complete conversations with no one. At first she thought it was the dog or one of the cats, but she has caught him in a room alone, no pets, having conversations.
Still, they do make for some fun campfire stories and horror movies.
Kelley, your account of your brother is amazing.
