i've been on site for a relatively short time. i've interacted with a lot of really great guys from all over and i really enjoy looking at their profiles and galleries, however....why would anyone go to the trouble of uploading a bunch of photos and then lock them? it's really annoying to click on a gallery and be confronted with a bunch of blue meanies. it seems to defeat the whole purpose.
and on an even stranger note, why would anyone set up their guestbook so that they have to APPROVE comments left? there's no negative options listed, so, what?...you need to make sure it's worshipful enough? very anal.
we're all here, more or less, for the same reasons...lighten up!
I apologize if I sounded like a dick or if I was jumping down your throat, it wasn't my intention at all.
Hugs ;-)

"because they can" is the equivalent of "because i said so". i understand some people's need for discretion, i understand consequences and i actualy even understand that people do things "because they can". what i don't understand is why someone, more than one person, would have a face photo as a primary photo, list their sexual flavor preference and give a character sketch of themself, then lock their 10 gallery photos. sorry if i hit a nerve!
as for guestbook settings, the impetus for the question was a member who has photos posted of their forays into commercial porn with the company logo cleatly shown on the photo. to then need to review comments before they are posted in their guestbook seems peculiar to me, if not controlling. i find the behavior odd and i wondered why people would go to that extreme.
i'll really try, in future, not to ask questions with answers as obvious as "because they can" or questions that might have been asked before. mea culpa, mea culpa, once again. please don't slap my jands with the ruler, sister webmaster!
Im not trying to scare anyone, Im just giving my opinion on why some men choose to be discreet. But if someone doesn't mind that anyone can see them then more power to them.
I remember once seeing an entire website dedicated solely to making fun of men who show full nude pictures with face. They would just find pics of naked men with face online, post the photos with some rude commentary and the rest of the community would chime in with their rude comments. I wish I could remember the name of it.
"why would anyone go to the trouble of uploading a bunch of photos and then lock them?"
Because they want to. Its their profile, they pay for it, they can decide who they want to see their private pics.
Some guys want to be private about their sex lives. Some guys have professional jobs, are well known in their community, have families and don't want to risk anything just because they want some cock on the side.
Some people think that the internet thing is WAY too big and think nobody will ever see them online.
Not true. It happened to me. I posted nudes on a site years ago and did something stupid (my fault) and the IT manager of my job called me in to talk about it.
I was so embarrassed and horrified I quit my job a few weeks later. I was trying to break into IT at the time and it was awful. That was a great job too.
I still shudder when I think about it. And shake my head at how stupid I was.
Tawnee Stone was an internet sex model and someone in her parents community found out, xeroxed a copy of the website, and left it at her parents house to see their daughter was a porn star.
I saw a family member on a gay sex hookup site. Yes I'm gay too so its not a big deal to me and I didnt say anything, but still I'm sure he doesn't want others in his family to know the intimate details of his sex life. Another member on this website got into some big argument on another forum and they dug up dirt on him. The member posted his email address in his profile and Im guessing thats how they found his profile here and they posted the link on the other site to try to embarrass him (This is one reason you shouldn't post your email address in your profile). If someone wants to be private that's their concern and I think others should be understanding of it.
"why would anyone set up their guestbook so that they have to APPROVE comments left? "
2 reasons
1. When someone leaves an entry in the guestbook they get an email notifying them. Some guys get annoyed with emails so they turn it off.
2. Some people may not know its set like that and are oblivious they would need to turn it on.
I have it set to on, but once in a while theres a glitch (computers, whaddya gonna do) and it will set someones entry to "hold for review"
Thanks,
Marc
