ohio mosque arsonist blames fox news and talk radio (to say nothing of 45 beers in 7 hours).

The man convicted of setting fire to an Ohio mosque earlier this year is now blaming his crime on having watched Fox News and listened to conservative talk radio shows, which he claims convinced him that Muslims are all “terrorists.”

The 52-year-old man, Randolph Linn of Indiana, recently pleaded guilty to charges of setting fire to the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, resulting in a 20-year reduced prison sentence. His sentencing is scheduled for April 2013.

As part of his defense, the Digital Journal reports that Linn told the court that he was “riled up” from watching Fox News and consuming “45 beers” over a span of seven hours before committing his crime.

When the judge asked whether Linn actually knew any Muslims, the defendant replied, “No, I only know what I hear on Fox news and what I hear on [conservative talk] radio.”

“Muslims are killing Americans and trying to blow stuff up,” Linn added. “Most Muslims are terrorists and don’t believe in Jesus Christ.”

Upon being arrested for the arson, Linn reportedly told officers, “Fuck those Muslims… they would kill us if they got the chance.”

  • Got it, Erly, but not ALL of the Middle East is a war zone. UAE, Qatar and most of Israel are fine places to visit, and I'm sure there are others as well (such as Saudi Arabia, if you can stand the draconian restrictions). So let's PARTY!!! :)

  • Erly is paying of course since he is a 2 percenter. Besides he suggested we meet for a nice party in the Mideast.

Here is a nice photo of a beach in Dubai. Erly, you won't have to wear a burqa, but if you choose, you may.

  • Dubai or Qatar would be fine by me. Who's paying?:-)

  • re: fenway's post...
anyone who is jewish and was around for the second half of the 20th century has every right to feel uncomfortable around mieasterners in general and muslims in particular. the holocaust wasn't that long ago and all of the events that followed up. israel was only created as a solution to "the jewish problem", on a tract of land that was worthless and no one wanted until the jews arrive and developed it. the muslims and the arabs hate israel and the jews, they want them exterminated and israel eradicated. no, not every single arab or muslim...but it is the government and religious policy. in our town, we have oktoberfest every year. my jewish friend who lived thru ww11 still avoids the event, the idiots in liederhosen and the oompah music make his skin crawl. is that discriminatory, hell yeah. is there a reason for it? hell double yeah. i remember reading an interview with bette midler where she talked about arriving for her first european tour. she said when the plane landed, she stepped out of it and smiled for the cameras and all of the time her little jewish heart was screaming to her, "what are you, crazy? get me the fuck outta here!"
the arabs and the muslims are new nazis. anti-semitism lives, even in the 21st century. if you don't believe it, talk to an older jewish person. even better, talk to one of the hasidim, they're still being blatantly discriminated against.

fenway, watch your back. it can happen again and it's wise to be wary.

  • why, thank you for your supportive post twirlybird, my little sugarshit! what part did you find most humorous...the 45 beers or the fact that someone actually believes fox news and talk radio? i know that you listen to talk radio all day, so let that be a warning to you. don't go chugging 45 beers or we may be reading about you on the internet, next!

  • I think the term "bovine scatology" pretty much sums it up!

  • I see a link here! Could it possibly be that organized religion is the problem? Don't all organized religions tell us to be afraid? Maybe it is time for us to wake up and rethink our own beliefs a litle more closely!

  • The whole right-wing "operation" in the U.S. runs on fear! Where there is no fear, they quickly make up shit to cause fear (check out what Fux Noise puts out) to fill the hearts of conservatives so there is no room for anything else. A recent study shows that liberals operate on more of a basis of trust and aren't motivated by irrational fear like conservatives are. SO the Republicans claim to have a big tent under which all are welcome, but in reality, they FEAR anyone who is different from their hetero male, white, Anglo-Saxon, gun-toting (take-me-back-to-the-50s image. They fear gays, blacks, atheists, Muslims, Hindus, immigrants, free-thinkers, regulators, and almost anyone from a different country or culture. This piece of shit is a fearful conservative who is motivated by the fear-filled warnings and conservative propaganda put out daily by Fux Noise.

  • As a Jew no one ever told me that Jesus Christ didn't exist. Neither my parents or any Rabbi ever told me that. I do believe he existed, but don't believe he was the son of God and for that matter several other religions don't either. Girl Scouts and Brownies wear beanies, Jews wear Yarmulkes. Reformed Jews such as myself only wear them at religious ceremony's. The head of the Roman Catholic church (The Pope) wears a white skull cap called a Zucchetto. A cardinal wears red, Bishops wear purple and priest wear black. And God knows, Jews are far from the only group of people who have their cocks circumcised. Hospitals all around the world perform circumcisions in the MILLIONS. Yes it is sad the in this year 2013 people are socially ignorant. That's 99% of the problem.....alright 98%.
    fenwaydav 12/29/2012 12:05 AM
  • Sure, there are radical Roman Catholics too.....burning abortion clinics, black and latino gangs killing each other, etc, etc but it doesn't make EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM DANGEROUS!!!! Muslims have a certain dress and look that is not the norm for us but so do Jews with the beenie and the circumcitions and they don't believe in Christ either. Come on!!!! There are good and bad in ALL races and religions. Give me a break. This is 20almost13 here! Are we that closed minded and socially ignorant?

  • zip, My pussy has radical tendency's too.

  • this is randolph linn. it looks like he has all of his teeth, just not all of his marbles.

  • OH, wow, Fenway, you are accusing cat lovers of being radical and dangerous? I think you are confusing cat lovers with the cats themselves. Cats definitely have terrorist tendencies; just look at the photo attached.

  • All the talking heads blame the shootings in Newtown, Ct. on the media to one degree or another. They say that copy cats see a murder and want do go one better. From what I watch on the evening news, I get a little nervous about Muslim extremist. I get a little nervous when I see women in my neighborhood wearing full black burkas in 95 degree weather. The French have outlawed that mode of dress. I'd like to think I haven't a prejudice bone in my body, but I know it's not all together true. When I hear the men standing in front of the cab company across the street from my apartment speaking every language under the sun EXCEPT ENGLISH, that bothers me. I am not saying this guys defense is right or even sane, but Fox does preach a certain amount of hatred towards any group that does not think the way they do. I personally haven't watched any Fox news program in years. Are Muslim extremist dangerous, you're damn right their are. But on the other hand, any group that has extreme and radical views are dangerous, and that includes Roman Catholics, Jews, Blacks, Gays, and cat lovers........
    fenwaydav 12/28/2012 04:14 PM
  • Now, I have to say, most of Fox news and conservitive talk radio is bullshit, using that and beer as an excuse for burning down a place of worship only makes you sound crazier than you really are. As far as Muslims....I have relitives that are Muslim and they hold absolutely on ill will against my Roman Catholic family and have never tried to kill any of us. This dude just sounds like a typical redneck Indianin. I'll bet he had all of three teeth in his mouth and a front yard full of cars up on blocks.
