Friend & Buddies

OK ... Everyone has them and everyone needs them ... friends and buddies. But there is a difference between a friend and a buddy. Here's the differences starting with friends first.

A friend is truthful with you and will tell it as it is ... no bull-shit. Even when the truth is something you don't want to hear a friend will tell you. A friend forgives you, even when the thing you did was wrong and hateful. A friend will challenge you, even when you'd rather stay in your comfort zone. A friend is there for you, even when miles apart. But a friend doesn't always share all of your interests ... which is fine and that's where buddies come in.

A buddy is someone that shares a common interest (movies, music, sports, etc.) and does those fun things with you. It could be a beach buddy, a golfing buddy, a camping buddy, a movie buddy, traveling buddy, etc. Without buddies, things can become very boring. Granted, its fantastic when your friends are also your buddies, but they can't be 100% of the time ... that's just not possible. Frankly, I am surprised at how flippant people become with their buddies. You need them every bit as much as you need your friends. They are equally important! Buddies are especially important when you're in a relationship. Not even the healthiest relationship includes two people that share all the same interests. If it did, it wouldn't be the least bit challenging and a relationship should certainly be challenging because that's how a relationship grows.

With all that said ... just remember this ... never take for granted your friends or your buddies! They are important and needed for a happy and fulfilling life.
