Peter O'Toole Dies
I was captivated by his performance in Lawrence of Arabia back in the 60s. His blue eyes and general good looks - well, just look at the man!
In 1980 he starred in "The Stunt Man". One of my favorite movies... it's about a bat-shit crazy movie director (Peter) who hides a young man who is eluding the cops. Well worth renting or whatever one does these days.
Was O'Toole gay? Always seemed like it to me. A lot of great work but my favorite was the wickedly funny The Ruling Class.
Years of smoking and alcoholism took it's toll. The 1982 movie "My Favorite Year" a very funny movie is almost a biography of him. Passed by several times for an Oscar, a special one was finally given to him. Another sad passing this weekend was Joan Fontaine at the age of 96. She won an Oscar for Alfred Hitchcock's, Suspicion. She was the sister of Olivia de Havilland.
