location ?

I know I will get a lot of negative responses. but what's with the zip codes. Why not just say where you are located, eg. city and state. It would cut down a lot of time wondering where you are from.

It's not like you are giving away where you live.

  • Nothing wrong with your question. I often find myself googling a zip code to find out where someone is from. I also wish they'd bring back the feature which showed the last time the person visited. You don't know if the person you're writing was here yesterday or 5 years ago.

  • This is definitely not a negative response to your understandable question. Rather, it is just a possible explanation. Zip codes mean more to people in a larger city. We can tell what part of town others live in. It means even more if we depend upon public transportation. Now, if there was a zip-program plug-in that could tell how close one guy is from another using their zip that would be better. For me, in Manhattan, someone in New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania might be much closer than someone from up-state New York or out on Eastern Long Island. Each state is sorted together. I often times have to Google where a town is located in my own state. For me it is just as easy to do a search on someone’s zip
