Remembering the 4th of July

You know both of my parents have passed and today I was sittin out on my patio watching it rain and i was remembering when i was a kid growing up in a small town in Missouri of how it was on the 4th. As a kid my dad always told us that it was his job to entertain us on the 4th of July so he would go out buy all kinds of fireworks cause in those day you could almost buy anything that made noise or lit the sky up. So we would all get our places on the porch and he would go out the the street and he would light one off we would go wow and another and wow the colors and hold our ears to the noise. He had as much fun as we did then he would give us all these sparklers to light and make crazy designs in color oh, i use to love that and the snakes that left marks on the sidewalk and my dad use to laugh and smile and he knew once again he did a great job. After the fireworks werr over he would gather us all up and he always had ice cream and cookies for us . Yes those were the days something i will always remember. He would say to us "kids the USA is the best place to be" and we would say we know and we are so proud to be here.
