The children today are our kids... We buy their phones, and computers... They are our responsibility to provide for, to encourage, to teach, but not to dictate to, because it is important that the underlying part of the teaching is independent thought. A tightrope, for sure, but that is a part of the job description you accepted when having them.
"Careful the things you say
Children will listen
Careful the things you do
Children will see and learn
Children may not obey, but children will listen
Children will look to you for which way to turn
To learn what to be
Careful before you say "Listen to me"
Children will listen" (Sondheim)
So... Did you teach your children to make their beds? If you did and they did not want to, as parent, how did you respond?
