Lighten Up!

Too much politics and religion! It's depressing! I'm about to turn 65 in September. Retirement is on the horizon. I have a good job that pays well and has good benefits. I want to retire but I won't live on cat food! I'm getting all kinds of shit in the mail regarding Medicare A,B & C. WTF? Today really put the cherry on the sundae - I got mail regarding cemetery plots. Holy shit! I'm not even retired and they're ready to bury me! I'm dealing daily with global warming, super storms, invasion of privacy (ala 1984), terrorism, what to and what not to consume. So guys, lighten up!

  • I have to agree that we NEED to discuss politics and religeon more publicly and not avoid the subjects. I have a beach buddy and we have two things that we expect of anyone joing us and that is YOU WILL discuss politics and religeon while there. We get all sorts of looks when we say this because most people think just the opposite. Engaging in relevant and factual debates on these topics is actually something that is expected of all of us by being citizens. The reason we have such ineptitude in our elected officals is because we have been asleep for so long that not only has the fox eaten all of the chickens but he has sold the hen house to the Chineese.

  • Thanks guys for your support and encouragement. It's just that sometimes things get a little too serious on here. There needs to be more levity to balance things out. Aside from the kid who might one day be able to fit a Chevy Suburban up his ass.

UPDATE: When I got home from work today my partner proudly showed me his latest acquisition from ebay - a decorative piece featuring a mourning angel. On the bottom of the piece is a removable panel to store someone's ashes. Guess who? LOL!

  • Retirement is no reason to ignore current events, unless such discussions depress you. Then simply don't read 'em. There! That's easy, right?
