Puppy Love?
I'm putting a book together about attending public school back in the day (50s-60s). One of the subjects that I'm dealing with is my relationship with schoolmates. There was one schoolmate with whom I was perhaps obsessed. He was a beautiful dark haired blue-eyed boy and I recall that one morning while we were lined up in preparation to enter the school building, I was behind him and nibbled his ear. He didn't like it in the least bit. I didn't know why I did it, I just did. There certainly was no sex involved but, thinking back, there was a clear indication of my budding sexuality. How far back can you recall a first crush?
Growing up in the midwest, in a very protected environment, my first crushes involved TV and music personalities. At about 10 years of age, I was very attracted to Timmy the kid on "Lassie." The bucholic life on that TV farm resembled some of my small-town life and felt cozy and warm. Later I had a crush on Pat Boone of all people. I've had to do some wild and crazy things in my life to get that out of my system. Maturity and life experiences have led me to like and enjoy more of the anti-hero types. Thanks for this topic; it brought back some nice memories and made me happy that I escaped my childhood and followed my essence to be who I am today without regrets.
At school, in France when I was 10, 11 years old. A tall, blond and blue eyed boy got my attention. Always in trouble, he had an indescribable magnetism which attracted me madly.
"... to enter the school building, I was behind him and nibbled his ear." This is such a cute story, thanks for telling it. While at school, public through grade school and Catholic for my high school years, I was always awkward, pretty shy, and kept to myself. The first crush that I remember and realized I was different was not until I was a teen-it was 1973, I was thirteen, and I thought that Lee Majors--The Six Million Dollar Man-- was destined to be mine.
