Florida could be the next state to legalize Gay Marrriage

So far Monroe County, Miami Dad County, Broward County and now Palm Beach County Judges have ruled the Marriage ban for Gay's unconstitutional. Homophobe Pam Bondi Florida's attorney general put it on appeal. Her term should be up this November hopefully she will be voted out of office.

There are a number of issues in FL this year on the ballot. However as an off year election the turn out to the polls is usually lower. FL Republicans have shown their lack of compassion and understanding for the needs of their voters. They have tried to sway the votes this year by redistricting and it has been ruled against them thus far and the redistricting has stopped. Also a grass (bad pun here) roots movement for Amendment 2, medical marijuana, is showing an overwhelming support in favor by over 80%. This movement has shown that the absentee ballot requests has significantly jumped this year with support across party lines in both the older and younger age groups. I think this will be a huge wake up call this year in Fl. for ALL of those up for reelection. Not only in FL but a country wide wake up call to those who are suppose to be working for US and not their agenda and 15 second evening sound bites.

  • Even a year ago I would not have predicted the amazing progress that has been made on the gay marriage issue, but it has been the result of a seachange in public opinion which couldn't be predicted. But all this change doesn't change the fact that some people abhor the very idea and hate gays or anyone different from themselves, especially in sexual ways.

  • Marriages aren't likely to happen in the other 31 states until the Supreme Court decides. They could rule on the issue directly (most likely). Or they could in effect rule by declining to hear the issue. This most likely could only happen if all the appeals courts agree that the bans are unconstitutional.
