Hate speech and politics

As a gay man, I have noticed in the past when there is a increase of hate speech, there is an increase of hate acts. The Right doesn't want to acknowlege this. Sarah Palin stated that there is NO connection between speech and acts. BS!! When you make comments about violence against those you hate and those you disagree with, don't be surprised when hate speech becomes acts. And be an adult and acknowledge this. Its become real interesting that people fought against gay rights here in Illinois not only because they hated us, but because they were agraid that their hate speech would be outlawed. Speech IS protected by the constitution, but speech has consequences. It makes gives those who are violent license to be violent. It happens to minorities including the LGBT community ands it happens to politicians. IS anyone NOT Surprised?

  • Agreed. The old adage: The pen is mightier than the sword. Words are power and can be used to incite action. Unfortunately the actions are not always good.
