What is a bear

I've been watching a dvd about bears and was wondering what you think. The porn industry especially Bear magazine and a lot of Bear movies only include A list muscle bears and there is a segment of this community that wants to make bears only that. What do you think? I think its a bunch of BS. I do like watching Muscle bears but I like a lot of other bears too. Personally I consider myself a teddy bear and would hate to think that I am no longer an acceptable bear because I am big. I thought the whole idea of bears was people of different sizes and a place to allow men of stature.

  • For a porn site for the sort of bears you seem interested in, I can recommend Bear Films.co, for sites that are like this one, friendly to all of the gay men spectrum, there is Bear Forest.com, Bruizr.com, this site, obviously, bear411.com...and if looking for photos sites, tumblr is full of collectors of photos of big, sexy men of the sort you wnat to see...if you wnat some lists of those sites, write to me on here.

  • I have found that if you go to a bear site and look at many of the profiles from different countries, that as per the society, many of the North American bears tend to be more on the heavy side and as an example, it you look at the guys from France, most tend to be much leaner. Just an observation.

  • The bear movement *did* start out as an acceptance group for the non-stereotypical "twink" men, who didn't fit into the hip community of gay men back in the 60s-70s. But now, like with any other subcommunity, it has its own fanatics who need to pigeonhole everyone into further subcommunities (otters, musclebears, behrs, pandas, grizzlies, polar bears, cubs, yadda yadda). And of course, with so much media bombardment of the ideal "masculine man" image, it's not surprising a lot of guys think that's the zenith of beardom. And mainstream porn obviously exploits this image of the perfectly chiseled adequately hairy bearded, well hung guy to get its viewers off!
    (Remember.. there are other studios providing porn with more.. regular bears too.. Regular guys with keggers instead of six-packs, varying degrees of fur and with actual personalities)
    I personally don't subscribe to the Hair Nazi definition of a bear. I think "bear" is just an attitude, something in the mind and personality, rather than just body type and hair coverage.. If you think you're a bear, you are one. Period. Fuck the naysayers.. Be happy with yourself and don't fall for someone else's definitions for yourself!
