BRUCE JENNER INTERVIEW

I've read some pretty nasty remarks about the upcoming interview Diane Sawyer is having with Bruce Jenner. Most people still think that people who change (or want to change) their sex is something they are doing as a whim. Granted the large population who think this way are probably straight. This decision is something someone doesn't wake up one morning and says I think I'll go to the doctor and have them chop my cock off or remove my tits. I know several transgender people who have gone from men to women and visa versa. This is a decision that is years in the making. They have to live as the gender they are choosing for at least a year. It's a proven fact that from a very young age the person knows something is different. They are not comfortable in the body they were born with. I don't know what is so unusual about this, I knew from the earliest memories I have that I was gay. I am not a big fan of Diane Sawyer or for that matter Bruce Jenner, but I am curious to finally hear what's going on from Bruce himself (herself). For that reason I will be watching on April 24th. I am sure the disgusting remarks will continue, but I guess that's what happens in a free society. People are free to think and say what they want, I just wish when they make those remarks they can back it up with some facts.

  • My only thought regarding Bruce is I wish she could have arrived at this point earlier in life. Just about every transgender person I know has known from an early time in their life something wasn't right. They didn't feel like they fit their body. They didn't understand why they didn't fit the heteronormative stereotypes we have programed into us from the beginning. Bruce must have agonized over this a long time. That's a lot of baggage to carry through your life.
I've known a lot of transgenders, having lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston. Everyone I've ever met was happier after transitioning.
One of the few friends I have is a trans woman. I knew her before, through and after. Before, living in a male body, she did everything she could to prove she was a man. She overcompensated in a lot of areas to fit in with the male image. During transitioning, I watched her blossom, become more outgoing, more relaxed with who and what she was. Now? My favorite thing to say, after she's made some definitely female comment, is "Gawd, you are such a girl."

  • It is hard enough to be human. In 1637 Descartes wrote “Discours De la Méthode” (Somewhat translated: ‘I am thinking, therefore I exist.’) He continues in his explanation; We cannot doubt our existence if we have doubt. We accept ‘that we are’ our next goal is to accept ‘who we are.’ How many are so confidant that we know ourselves well enough so that we might have the understanding to judge another who is non threatening to ourselves. Is it possible that the opinions we have of others are a mask proving that we are afraid to look inward? Until such time that I may fully know myself I will spend that time in search of ‘me’ and not throw away my limited mortality unintelligently expounding about others. In the end we all die alone. Perhaps only then I will have the knowledge to understand. If so, I will comment then about the paths others are taking.

On the other hand, Yes, I do believe I am given the right to judge fundamentalists in order to counter attack and protect my personal liberties. Mr. or Ms. Jenner is trying to find a personal path that is not nor will it ever affect me directly. As a fellow human, however, I do hope he finds the peace he is seeking. I know that it’s hard enough for me.

  • I think transphobia is just as prevalent among gays as it is with the straights. And it's due to prejudices and social programming, along with bizarre ideas of morality and Victorian ideas of sex and gender. And I suppose it's not easy to accept either, considering our identities are so hardwired into our persona.
Personally, I couldn't care less for the Cardassians, and I had no idea who Bruce was, before this "news" came out, but I'm glad one person is finding inner peace and happiness by living her life as she feel fit.

And with Bruce Jenner transitioning, the Kardashian family FINALLY has a female role model the kids could look up to.

  • Monty Python used to do a drag racing skit. That was longer ago than I care to admit.

  • Maybe he can't pole vault in heels. But he could run. Have you never heard of drag racing?

  • First of all, Marc, you look amazing in that hat! Rock out with your cock out!!! Ride 'em Cowboy!!

I just hope Bruce finds inner peace with his sexual identity. That has to be a horrendous situation to be born into and then to spend most of your life working it out so your body and mind are in tandem. At least if we are born gay or bi, we find a place in life without physical ambiguity.

  • Have to admit that Jenner had already turned himself into a joke with his Kardashian TV stuff. There wouldn't be nearly this much snarky attention if he had not done that. So no real sympathy here. Could he pole vault in heels? :)

  • I don't care for Bruce Jenner after he rear ended a vehicle that was stopped at a red light, pushing the other driver into traffic and killing her. Then walked away from it. That's at least vehicular manslaughter and I hope he goes to jail for it.
