MAy 21st happenings

There must be guys on this site who have more than a passing interest in such topics a the Mayan Calendar, the writings of Nostradomus, the Malachy Predictions, etc.

What prompts this comment is the number of billboards, signs on buses, notices in newspapers that claim that the beginning of the "end Times" will be on 5/21/11 and that the Parouisia will have arrived.

Luv to hear any feedback.

  • We've been looking for the end of our conditional suffering since 1000 AD (the Y1k scare). Jesus, Mohammed, and Buddha's followers thought they'd be right back in a few years, initially. This is nothing new. In another 900+ years, we'll be going through the same motions.

I think above all, one should refocus the mind to realize that every day is a gift and should be enjoyed as such, instead of wondering when the ride will end, know that it could at anytime and do the best one can.

  • I am just a few years younger than you, iliemeninjocks... Isn't this about 17th "end of world" we've been through? I swear, the planets have aligned so many times... the comets that "just barely missed"... and now Jesus is going be the only guy not showing up (again) at his own surprise party.

But really, the "quickening", in my opinion, is just everyone getting older. And it happens every generation for the past 6 thousand years. Remember how when you were 6 year old, it seems like Christmas would never get here? And when you were in school it seems like the school year never ends, yet summers go on forever? Now it seems like Christmas and summer stumble over each other.

So the "end of the world" is just the realization that we are going to die. The world I know might be coming to an end, but trust me... the planet will go on and on.

  • I suppose humans really need some impending mega disaster to look forward to, just so they can "have a reason to enjoy life till then"..lol
There was Y2K, the supervolcano, some comet, the supermoon, now 5/11 and then 2012.. It's like people love their local doomsday prophets.. Like some random piece of ancient text and a calendar (not to mention some astrological mumbo-jumbo) would predict how life as we know it would end.
Ah well.. To each his own I suppose :)

  • That seems to be the primary response that many people offer. Just makes ya wonder!
