What are you doing New Years Eve?

Me, I'm gonna stay home and start reading a good book. Had a party invite, but who wants to drive 35 miles home. So staying home and reading is my plan. Which leads to the question: What's on your nightstand?

  • I had friends over around noon for what I called finger foods. Watched some football and they were gone by 5. Took a quick nap and watched the ball come down. Would have loved if the balls were cumming down on my face, but content to be home and avoiding all the drunks.

  • I was in bed by 10 watching TV. I hardly ever go out on National Drunk's Night Out. I was invited to a party but the host rarely has successful parties and I doubted there would be anyone there. There wasn't, I just saw the pictures.

  • With all the wonderful things I can tell you about New Mexico, DWI is not one of them. It is a major problem here. I think I heard that it is the world capitol for drunk driving resulting in injuries and death. Therefore, on New Years Eve/day my spouse joined in with other musicians for a mid-afternoon music salon, He played two of his works- one based upon one my poems that I recited. Later back home we made an early dinner for a gathering of other friends, added in neighbors for desert, toasted the New Year happening some place in the world with sparkling cider by the fireplace. Everyone was in their own home by ten. The equinox & solstice have a greater effect on our lives than the December holidays, however, it is important to celebrate with people who are important to us whatever and whenever we can. Who knows what tomorrow may bring.
