Yesterday I saw a car accident where the driver was texting and drove right into the car in front of him that was stopped at a red light. 2 years ago my sister was hit from another driver who was texting and not paying attention. Lately I see people texting and driving everywhere.
Should people get tickets for it? Should fines be steep or small?
If someone is ticketed multiple times should they get points on their insurance, be forced to go to driving school, or lose their license similar to a DUI?
Thoughts?
In Phila it is estimated that 30+ percent of the drivers don't even carry liability insurance and this city is rife with texters/drivers. a POX on the whole fucklng lot of them!
It states in most D.M.V. manuals that a drivers number one priority while in their car ,is driving !!!
I am not that much into phones thus I am not a phone person .but it just vexes me to see people paying more attention to their phones ,texting while driving on the streets and on the freeway (highway ).
I live in the suburbs and my home is situated towards the front entrance and I get so sick and tire of the drivers ,mostly women driving by ,faster than the speed limit that is posted ,texting .
Sending a message is not more important than a human life !!!
A teenage girl was texting while driving and drove through an intersection while a mother with her baby in a baby carriage were crossing in the cross walk on a green light .
This teenage girl texting while driving hit and wiped out the baby carriage and killed the infant !!!
To add insult to injury ,the selfish ,stupid ,and none compassionate parents of this young lady ,had the audacity to ask that their daughter be given a second chance and not be sent to prison for her thoughtless that resulted in her killing someone's child !!!
She should be sent to prison ,because if she is not ,this would be sending out the wrong message and she would only go back to texting while driving again .
A grandmother was at an auto show with the remains of the car that her daughter died in while texting and driving .
She stated that her daughter took her eyes off the road for only two to three seconds before having a head on collision with another car that killed her .
The grandmother met the man who was with her daughter during her final moments of life .
When I stated grandmother ,that was to give a clue that the very young woman who died in her car while texting and driving left her small child behind .
The grandmother ,thus has to be a mother to her grandson .
Yes some one texting while driving a car should be fined and the fine should be a very hefty one ,such as $400.00 to $500.00 for the very first offence .
There is a law in my state against texting while driving and people blatantly text while driving ,knowing that it is against the law to do so !!!
Their mind set is "oh I won't get caught "
While driving along the Interstate, I pulled up next to a woman who was texting while driving. Knowing how dangerous it is, I did what I could to make her quit; I threw my beer at her.
I sure feel bearlly's sentiment, though putting someone in the electric chair is caustic in itself! I think the fines should be more punitive; since it's shown to be the equivalent of, or more dangerous than, drunk driving, it should carry fines similar in nature.
The fine in Alaska for first time offense is $10,000. I think that's a good starting point. For a link of the monetary penalties in the US for texting while driving: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-penalty-for-texti … our-state/
