you make some good points - you are very objective and logical - one of the many things I admire about you (though I've never met you in person!) -
but, in this film, the point was made that those who are crop circle makers want to be referred to as "researchers" in their own right... that comment by the narrator is a stretch -
I agree with you - this particular film - while fun to watch and to consider is not persuasive - it is not a thorough examination of everything concerned with crop circles - and, yes, there were serious scientists presented in this film who examined the soil, the radiation, and the nitrates and they concluded that the whole business of crop circles is a manmade phenomenon...
for as far as it goes the film is fine - it presents information but there are other films on the same subject that conclude directly the opposite... [have seen them on TV but don't ask me the titles or the channels!]
the business of making films can be entertaining... they can be serious... they can be biased and selective in the degree of what the present... frankly, I put this film in the entertaining category but I do not feel it is nearly as complete as it could be on the subject - for the reasons that I just don't know - maybe for the very reasons you suggest...
I laughed when I heard the narrator say that the crop circle makers wanted to be described as "researchers..."
hardly a serious sidenote to a subject that many throughout the world are wondering and perplexed by the mystery being examined...
with respect to crop circles and how they arrived - I think I agree with you in that there is more to the story... this one film presents a perspective... but it is not the only perspective nor is it a complete report on the subject...
in this film there was a woman with a masters in physics and a doctorate in something else... while she had a British accent it did sound as though she believed there was more to it than just some local pranks... and, of course, there were others (seemingly equally intelligent and credentialed) as she saying essentially the same thing...
for me, I do not scoff at the beliefs of others - whether that be belief in the supernatural, the spiritual, or in much else in the world... to include those who believe there is something unexplained by this phenomenon - shame on those who laugh at the beliefs of others - rather, I respect the sincere beliefs of people like you - on subjects I am not well informed about - like this one! it amounts to an admission on my part that my own ignorance does not allow me the right to scoff at others... that is just not right...
Reminds me of the Roswell NM visit by beings from outer space. Some would believe that the government entered into a conspiracy to hide information on that one. I tend to believe that the government is fully capable of hiding information from the general public out of some misguided notion that it is "in the public interest..." God only knows!
The government classified information about the Kennedy assasination for 50-years. Why on earth would the government do that except that (1) there was some element of truth to the conspiracy theories, and/or (2) there was something to hide that might have, perhaps, diminished the Warren Commission Report?
As for the Bermuda Triangle there have been numerous investigative reports concerning the matter on TV. One report will tend to add to the mystery and the unexplained phenomenon involved while another one will do just the opposite.
The crop circle program (or one very similar to it) has also been on TV. Again, the reporter will tend to either support as "unexplained" the mystery of how and who could be doing these things... while another will do just the opposite.
Isn't it interesting that those who are "crop circle makers" want to be called "researchers." True scientific research however, is best left to scientists I would think... Crop circle makers can call themselves whatever they want but the fact is merely calling oneself a "researcher" does not rise to a level of "true science."
I do agree that there are mysteries in this world and some are truly unexplainable. It is in the nature of the universe and of our finite ability to understand things that makes life interesting. The "fact" is that it is not possible for the human mind to comprehend and to understand everything. After all, we are not God...
The Roswell NM mystery sure has been good for business! Dare say that, judging by the film shown here, that business in the area of England where most of the crop circles appear, has been good too! Not so sure about the Bermuda Triangle however - except that the number of investigations, reports and films made must be bringing money to somebody somewhere...
Am not sure what to believe regarding the Kennedy assasination, the Bermuda Triangle, the crop circles or Roswell NM!!
The one thing I am very certain of however is the total believability that if the government has been involved that anything said or reported is generally suspect - time and time again, the government has lied and hid information for unexplained reasons that common sense would say is totally unwarranted. IF there was a reason to hide from the people that we were, in fact, visited by being from another world I would think it prudent that the more people who knew about it the better!
It is quite amazing to me that the crop circles are always created during the dark hours of the day. I wonder why?
Reminds me of a program on SyFy channel where these guys form teams and travel all over the world in search of ghosts and "beings from the other side..." I don't believe in ghosts so flip past that channel if that program is coming on!
C'est la vie! Life is full of mysteries and frankly it is probably a good thing we have mysteries. Because in learning about them mankind discovers realms that would never be thought of otherwise.
