What's the farthest you would ever travel to meet someone?

How far would you travel to meet someone you were very interested in?
The furthest I've gone was Boston to DC, but what was someone who sent me a plane ticket and sprang for my own hotel room. I probably wouldn't have traveled far if I didnt have my own place to go in case it didnt work out.

  • The farthest is from Chicago to Oakland/San Francisco, but there was months of chatting prior. Staying at a strangers home can be weird if you know nothing about them besides physical attraction and they also have to feel comfortable letting a stranger stay in their home. Because of this, I am still friends with both the guys in the 2 cities. Not as close as I would like to be.

  • No limit as long as there has been some communication beforehand. I live south of Boston and have driven to New Hampshire which depending on the location can be two hours away. I like the aticpation of the meeting itself, even better when there is a connection.

  • On the other foot however, have a bud who flies up to Dallas from Houston about once a month for his mini-vacation as he calls it. He is collared and naked the entire weekend unless we go out to eat or I take him collared and leashed to the Eagle. He is a major pain pig and spends most of his working life giving orders, flying around the country and being responsible. Here he has no control over where/what/why and as long as it hurts to sit on the plane home he is a happy camper. After my ex and I ended our 17 year relationship I did date rebound boi for about 6 months. We met in Dallas where he lived until he moved to Austin 2 months later. We continued to see each other for another 4 months but memorizing I-35 quickly got old. And he was rebound boi and we both knew that. It was fun while it lasted but wouldn't do it again I don't think.

  • I love reading all this jaded stuff. I have no car so no further than 20 miles on rapid transit. With that said... I have met guys on line and then traveled in their direction but I was going that way on vacation. Not sure if chatting on line with a guy for a yr and then meeting him on my vacation counts. After the sex I was happy I didn't make a special trip for it...lol I had a great vacation and much better sex with guys I met at Berkly Steamworks the following week.

  • Before the internet it was all bulletin boards, Compuserve, The Source etc. So it was either the chat function or the phone, no video chatting back then. Even digital picture sharing was not common.
    The fartherest I've gone was from CT to DC.

  • If I am going to be in the area anyway - distance is no problem. I am delighted to add a little side-trip to a planned journey in order to meet a gentleman (or gentlemen) who have caught my attention and perhaps desisre thru online communications. Done this in visits to Hawaii (approx 10 hours); FtL (approx 15 hours); Sarasota (approx 8 hours); Geneva AL (approx 2 1/2 hours); NO, Birmingham Al; Mobile, FtWB Fl; Orlando; Nashville; etc, etc, etc.!

    We are a resort destination area (Worlds most beautiful white sand beaches and jewel toned waters!) and have meet, entertained gentlemen from Canada, mid-west and east & west USA; Peurto Rico; Coasta Rica; Brazil; Mexico; Europe; and even California!!; etc.! Many of these visitors own condos or boats and want to host. Many stay at hotels with family and want me to host. I do when I can. These guys are traveling long distances, but are like me - I know I am a side trip to them and make it as enjoyable as I can. It's fun to meet people who are like me!!

  • I've never gone more than 1 hour drive to meet an unknown person. The one time I was going to travel 2 hours I got in a wreck about 15 minutes from my house. These days I let them come to me. Guess what... flakes don't show up no matter how much travel is involved.

  • Since i don't have a vehicle and have to rely on public transportation, I would most likely go no further than 5 or 6 milpes to meet someone---in just about most cases though, I will host as long as I have the place to myself.

  • Not very far, perhaps across town. Call me cynical but when you receive at least 3 to 10 emails a week from guys who having read your profile are thoroughly convinced you are the one for them it causes at the very least me to look upon every outreach with a grain of suspicion. Scams aside and there are plenty of those, there are far too many guys who seem to be looking for someone to complete them. Personally I have no interest whatsoever in completing anyone. I actually prefer guys with all parts attached and working, emotions under control but in working order, finances stable and growing, sanity, check. I live in a community of 1.2 million people in a metroplex of 6.5 million. It is highly doubtful the man of my dreams lives in Bumfuck, Indiana although truth be told there are apparently some really hot men in Bumfuck.
