Chick Fil-a protest ad

I just saw this and thought it was great!

Btw I had to eat there once a few years. I told my nephew I'd take him to "any restaurant he wanted to go to". I thought he'd say Friendly's, CPK, maybe Cheesecake Factory.
He said Chick-Fil-A.
Bleh! I had to hold my nose and go there.
Their food sucked. First and last time I ever ate there.

  • I went to a Chick-Fil-A today largely in response to Gov. Michael Huckabee's suggestion that Wednesday August 1st, is "Support Chick-Fil-A" Day. Was there at 2:15pm and the Place was ABSOLUTELY PACKED with customers. The food was up to its usual good standards.

I fully intend to go to a Chick-Fil-A on Friday too, largely to support Truet Cathy's right to state his personal opinion under the the free speach clause of the First Amendment. I expect the food will still be up to the store's high standards.

And U'll notice, based on my profile pic, that I clearly LIKE EATING BEEF! lol

  • This is a company that I have boycotted for years because of their "Christian Values". Will never eat anything from there and I love the ad you posted Marc. Very appropriate, we can do so much if we actively voice our opinions and close our wallets to companies like this, Cracker Barrell and so many more!

  • ERLYBRD: Wha'so likeable about the "free speach tolerant left"? They, like the conservatives, are only tolerant when U agree with their point of view. Other than than that they are as intolerant as everyone else. U only have to watcgh a snippet of news shows on ABC, MSNBC, NBC to see just how intolearant they really are. Talk about likeable! How likeable are Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, Chris Matthews, Eleanor Cliff, Alex Wagner? NOT VERY! Almost as likeable as, say, Rush Limbaugh--don't U just wanna break his fingers so that he can't thump the damn desk top?

  • In general, Chick-fil-A sucks more than a cheap whore on the day that rent is due. My vote for the best fried chicken sandwich goes to Arby's for the Cravin' Chicken sandwich; the best all around fried chicken vote goes to Popeye's. And the Cajun Rice is to die for! The fast food industry has no more right to politics than the catholic church.

  • Nobody is being intolerant of the free speech of Chick-Fil-A's management. They have the right to say whatever they want and believe whatever they believe. I also have the right not to spend my dollars there if I believe what they say is inappropriate.

  • Mayor of Boston refuses to let them open a store here unless they change their views.

  • Like hisbiguy, I also cringe as a Gay Christian when either camp makes blanket statements... Given the diversity of opinions, etc, I believe that one bad apple is not enough to color one's opinion and justify strong blanket statements (in any direction)...

Along similar lines tho, the same point can be made of the quality of the food, no? Having worked for a variety of national firms, I know each store/location/office is different

  • Chick-Fil-A's ownership and management certainly have the right to whatever politics they choose. However, they should recognize that they are in what should be a nonpolitical business and by taking a political stand they are alienating part of their customer base. There's a price to pay for that. There's no way gay people should patronize a place that unabashedly opposes us, especially as there are multitudes of other options available. We boycotted Coors and Cracker Barrel for years. Don't see why this would be any different, and in fact, given the passage of time, you could argue that Chick-Fil-A's stand is worse.

  • What are U guys talking about? It's a fast food restaurant, for Pete's sake.

I go to Chick-Fil-A becasue the food is good, the food is NOT frozen at some other place and shipped in for re-heating, the hot food is hot, the cold foods are cold, the staff are friendly, (they actually thank U for dining there), they bring the food to Ur table if U need to wait even more than 1 minute, there are randomly issued coupons on the sales receipts for a free chicken sandwitch. The Chick-Fil-A stores here in Philly epitomize the term "team work"--I've seen the owner do scut work when the other staff are busy serving food and taking orders. When have U EVER, EVER seen tbhat at the competitors' stores--not herte in Philly.

I'll admit it is slightly more expensive than the competition (MacDonalds, which I happen to like, Wendy's which I also like, and Burger King which I like too). Friendly's? Well, ok, but their burgers are awfully dry as far as I'm concerned and the other stores simply re-heat their frozen food--I've seen the stuff come in on the refrigerated trucks. I have seen fresh veggies and non-frozen chicken being delivered to the Chick-Fil-A that I usually patronize.

Truit Cathey is a a conservative, a Christian and a family values kinda guy. So what!? I go to a restaurant for the food and service. For my political information, I'll listen to Alex Wagner, Chris MAtthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Rachel Maddox and there ilk whilst walking on a treadmill -- I ABSOLUTELY wouldn't give any of them the pleasure of my company while I eat at a fast food restaurant.

  • Although this has been going on for a while, there is a new update today, with Chick-fil-a's president confirming that the company is opposed to same-sex marriage. What this has to do with making chicken sandwiches is beyond me, but clearly the company is inviting gay people to take their fast-food dollars elsewhere. We should definitely oblige.

  • In my day chicken was a whole other type of bird, I believe today they are called Twinks! :-)

  • AMEN, Brother. I'm a practicing Episcopalian. I cringe when anyone has to identify him (her) self as Christian. There are always issues involved. All that aside, any fool knows not to put pickles on a chicken sandwich
