Do you say Merry Chrismas to people, or Happy Holidays?
I find myself saying Merry Christmas still if I know them. It sounds nicer to me.
If I dont know them then I say Happy Holidays.
My ex is Jewish and he says Merry Christmas to me still.
What do you say? Do you even care?
Some think there is such a thing as a "War on Christmas." If there IS such a conflict, it happened decades ago when Santa Claus and other commercial factors came into being. No, Christians in the U.S. never held such paranoid beliefs in the past because they were more stable-minded, more self-confident. They believed in the "live and let live" philosophy behind the Freedom of Religion guaranteed in the U. S. Constitution. Today's conservative pseudo-Christians seem like cry babies to me. Christianity is not under attack. As certain churches struggle to retain membership they become paranoid and blame outside influences. However, if they took a real look what they are doing, they would find that the problems are frequently internal.
What's weird is the people who are HELL BENT on "Merry Christmas". I work in the retail sector, and ..um...DUH! of course we don't know the religious faith of our customers based on a purchase, so we state "Happy Holidays", but same as my personal credo, if they initate it with a "Merry Christmas", we respond with "Merry Christmas".
There's always the asshole here and there who gets all riled up when you start with "Happy Holidays" and wants to lay into you about not saying "Merry Christmas". Which, btw, is TOTALLY unfair, because in the retail sector you can't really speak your mind and point out what douchebag he/she is!
Oh wait I did lol
