Actually have been to one of these shows. And I was enraptured by the entire thing. But I have always liked the feel of drums in my gut, pounding and pulsing. I guess if you all are not into the beat, then this would definitely not entertain you enough. But, not only drums are used, there is soft shoe and tap dancing and broom swishing and items thrown and all things to catch the eye with a LOT of great looking guys (yeah there are girls in it too but enough about them). And we sat maybe 15 rows back. Nope, no headache, but again, ya gotta like the sound of the heartbeat!!!
I’d love and jump at the opportunity to see this show. Been watching them for years and feel this would be an energizing and. Exhilarating. couple of hours!
As for the $70.00, I’ve blown more than that in a bar trying unsucessfuly to get laid.
I have seen parts of it. It is entertaining and interesting...up to a point. After 10 minutes, I'd be ready for a martini and ear plugs. Being a cheap old bast.. um.. parsimonious gentleman of years, I seriously doubt I could enjoy spending that kind of money for something I could only listen to for such a short time.
i saw the first touring company, years ago. i liked it so much i went back the next year and saw it with a differnt cast. people in the audience stomped their feet and at the end, there were people standing on their seats. 8 young men making music with everyday objects and the most energetic dancing i've ever seen. the 82 year old i went with the first year said it was the best live show he'd seen in years. i told a 20 year old theat i worked with about it the next day, he went and loved it, raved about it at work and 2 of the women went. the second year, they made a theater party of going.
no people dressed as cats, no singing nuns, no christmas tree rising out of the floor and not a single abba tune. i can see why people would think it was boring..........................................
Although I haven't seen Stomp or any of its copycat versions I have seen this promo and other ads on TV. I agree with fmhoward. It's not a traditional night in the theater, but I am drawn to the energy and creative coreography involved. However, I would get one of the cheap seats way up in the nosebleed section to avoid the thunderous sound. I imagine even non-hearing people enjoy the feel of the amplified rhythms.
