hi guys please don't send money to any stranger online

I just got this email, this guy said he loved him but needed money, so he sent him $650 to help him, and (such a surprise) the other guy disappeared after getting the money

here is the email

"There is a man on your site which lives be saying in England while in fact, he is
Russian, and it is here to swindle the other people, as he made with me. He had to
come to visit me in France, but, as if by chance, he had many problems in his
country and asked me to help out him money that he would return me when he would
come! At the beginning, I believed him and I sent several times by some money
because every time, he had problems with his administration! He swindled me 650€ at
the end because I did not want to continue to send him for what he asked me! And I
saw that he had reappeared on your site. His name is Nikkkoo!"

So I've said it a few times, dont send money to any person unless you want to lose that money.
Once you send it they will most likely disappear.

I do my best to police it, but these guys lie and use fake ip's and proxy servers to say they are from New York City or Los Angeles etc when they are really from Nigeria or Ghana.

And I've become so paranoid of these scammers that I've ended up banning people who were true honest people, so its very hard to tell.

The best thing is just dont send money to someone you meet online ever.
I've been online 14 years and never asked another guy for money, there's no reason to unless they want to lose that money.

Just like you wouldnt give hundreds of dollars to a stranger you met in a bar, dont do it on the internet.

Thanks ;)
Marc

  • In the words of P.T. Barnum, There's a sucker born every minute. When I was younger and drove a taxi in NYC, a couple from out of town asked "How do you survive in a place like this?". My answer then and now remains the same. Always act like you know what's going on, even when you don't. People (not all of course) will take advantage of you if they know they can get away with it. Unfortunate, but true.

  • I have had friends fall for this and I am not trying to paint a broad brush with this statement but it seems to me it is generally older guys attracted to younger guys as it was with my friends. I have two friends that fell for this even after I told them not to! If you have to send anyone money in order to get them to come and visit what sort of relationship do you really think you are going to end up with? There are lots and lots of wonderful gay men out there and they are not out to scam anyone but you have to take the time to vet through some of the few bogus profiles in order to find them. Trust your instincts!!!!!!!!

  • heres a picture of the profile. I feel bad because you know that photo is of a fake person stolen, and not a photo of the actual scam artist.

As you can see he looks normal and theres no strange text or anything that would trigger any spam filter.

So its really up to you to ignore someone who asks you for money and to smell someone fishy when someone asks for it.

    thanks :)
