There is enough food 4 thought dayly in the news... just is anniversary of second Irak war; no mass destruction weapons nowhere and a desolated country with more deaths after the 'end' of war and no real hope for future. Did anyone apologize? And to whom?
Just one example; second legislation is always 'good' for beginning a new war... or more extrajudicial killings approved by a president who got a nobel prize before anyone knew if he would be deserving it. Lot of food, indeed.
Yes, that is a great scene from the HBO series THE NEWSROOM starring Jeff Daniel. I remember the first time I saw Jeff Daniel; it was in the early 80's and he was on a film that PBS was showing. The film was from a stage play called FIFTH OF JULY and Daniel played Richard Thomas' (John Boy) partner/lover.
Wow, and hurrah! That actor is Jeff Daniels (maybe Danielson?) so it was a staged scene, but it says exactly what is sad but true. Personally, I don't think we need to be the best either overall or in any certain category, but the United States that I knew growing up following WWII was all those things he mentions. We CAN do better and I would start with beocming less military. I would love it if we went back to the Constitutional framework where ONLY Congress can declare war and the military, not the CIA is responsible to wage that war. We have come SO far away from what we were. It makes me very sad.
