Vicco, Kentucky

If you're not sure where Vicco is, it's located in Eastern Kentucky between the towns of Sassafras and Happy. In one of the better reads today, this article in the Times spins a gratifying story; it's just a nice reinforcement that like water running over a stone things are slowly, and sometimes positively, changing.

  • Good people doing the right thing! Isn't that something for us all to strive for?
I grew up in east Tennessee and went to college in southeast Kentucky, in the same setting as Vicco and these people are what is real!
    Thanks for sharing this article.

  • that's a really charming story. just goes to show, you shouldn't accept stereotypes. i'm right across the river from kentucky and i've been surrounded by country folk all of my life. you'll never find more honest or accepting people anywhere. they bend over backwards to help you and they'll give you their last dime if they think you need it more. and they're down to earth enough to accept you for who you are because they know that no one is better than anyone else. appalachia is the county's true heartland.
