RNC accuses NBC and CNN of boosting Hillary, threatens to nix debates

"Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Monday called on CNN and NBC to rethink their decisions to shoot films about Hillary Clinton, calling each a “thinly veiled attempt at putting a thumb on the scales of the 2016 presidential election.”"

Talk about chutzpah-here Republicans and the Republican Party have Faux News, its own cheer leading news channel, to reiterate Republican Party talking points to ad nausem, and Priebus does not like the idea of CNN or NBC doing a feature about Hillary.

I can't imagine a network or cable channel would back down; if Priebus does not see the hypocrisy in his rant, at a minimum he should it least have thought how it would look at using politics to muzzle news and entertaining channel. There's going to be blowback; I can only wonder what political gain there is for Priebus and the RP. Maybe it's only an attempt to cast aspersions on the features before they get out of the gate?

Granted, CNN has been taking a more pointed left tilt to regain its news ratings, but Hillary is a popular--almost iconic--figure right now. For CNN, and especially NBC, it seems like a reasonable route if you're trying to get people to tune in.

  • Is there a website that provides these talking points? We might be interested in a link.

  • Surely Reince (the astute politician that he is) sees this as an opportunity to begin the smear tactics early. After all, the films will have to logically bring up all those scandalous lies they told about her while she was First Lady, Sec. of State, and even afterward with Benghazi. I like Bill Maher's take on all this.

  • Hill hasn't declared that she's running. I don't see a problem if someone wants to do a movie or piece on her.

All this rant does is prove how terrified the GOP is of her.

I think she can win the general election. But can she win the Democratic nomination?
